                                              - Caring for your tree -
My trees are cut very fresh after mid November and are basically stored in natures giant refridgerator until they get into your home.  Outside they would be fresh and green until warm spring days of April.  The drying occurs when the tree gets inside a warm house with very low humidity.  You can slow the drying by doing a number of things.
     1.  Only bring your tree into house when you are actually going to stand it in water.  Don't let it dry in your house or garage then stand it; leave it outside.
     2.  Cut 1/2 inch from the base immediately before standing tree in water.  This opens up the pores so the tree can start drinking water again.
     3.   Stand tree in water.
     4.  Make sure tree doesn't go dry.  Tree will drink up to a gallon a day or more for large 12' + trees.  If it dries the pores close and you lose capilary action.
     5.  You can keep the humidity higher and or lighly mist the tree with a spray bottle ( too much misting will cause mold).
From my experience and reports from customers these wild and plantation trees easily last 4 weeks inside.

A few more notes about my trees

The environmental side - most of my trees are coming from underneath major power transmission lines in NW Montana.  The power companies mandate that the trees be cut down every few years and none get over 12' tall.  My Christmas tree cutting actually provides a free money saving service to the power company.  Every 8-10 years they have to hire crews with big machines to clear miles of trees and brush from under their lines.  My tree harvesting saves a couple miles of work - they charge me anyway.

Special Orders - I can cut larger trees and or provide different wood products with pre orders (meaning order before I begin cutting Thanksgiving weekend).  Once I have hauled my trees to town, I have diminished ability to get special forest products.  Other forest products I provide:  firewood, bows, poles and rails, and live trees.
